Schiltigheim. Former Orpea Psychiatric Clinic (1/2): A "Disproportionate" Project?

Back in 2012, the Orpea-Clinea company inaugurated its "Ill medical center," a private facility comprising three establishments: a retirement home, a long-term care facility, and another dedicated to follow-up and rehabilitation care, on the outskirts of the Vogelau district in Schiltigheim. It was already planning to build a "private psychiatric clinic" on the same site, as reported in our article published on this occasion.
Thirteen years later, this clinic project is at the heart of the debate. It is no longer led by Orpea, but by Emeis, the new name of the same group , widely criticized by the book Les Fossoyeurs by journalist Victor Castanet , which triggered a widespread awareness of mistreatment within nursing homes.
